According to SLMC executives, this facility will embody the standards of a "2029 hospital" rather than merely reflecting the current standards of 2024. “When we open the doors of the hospital (in Parañaque), it will be a 2029 hospital. It will not be a 2024 hospital being opened in 2029. Serrano, an SLMC executive, emphasized the importance of this upgrade: “Stepping up to that quality also necessitates improving our facilities. That’s why we decided to tear down the old building and build a new one so that we can give better care and a better patient experience.”

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has officially recognized SLMC as the leading medical tourism facility in the Philippines. That, I think, is the formula for creating a medical tourism facility.” Currently, foreign patients contribute around 7 to 10 percent of the hospital’s gross revenues, with tourists from the Pacific Islands being the primary contributors.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco praised SLMC’s role in advancing the Philippines’ position as a top medical tourism destination in Asia, recognizing the hospital’s indispensable contribution to this mission.
